Ummm... Maybe not the best place to ask, but it's the only place I know at least someone will say something. I did something stupid, though I didn't do much of anything. I took apart my Maverick to see the inside, put it back together, and now it's really screwy. The revolver dosen't always spin, and only 1 of 4 shots shoot, and only 1 of 8 shoot as far as before. Can anyone tell me what happend, and how to fix it? Or where I should be asking? Or that I've been banned for talking about modifications? Ben Again 00:12, July 1, 2011 (UTC)

Nah, you won't be banned. No worries. If you took apart your barrel, make sure you correctly put it back together. The barrel can be very finicky from time to time if you don't put it back together properly. As for the firing of the blaster, you may have your plunger tube not aligned properly with where the darts will sit in the barrel.
A good idea is to look up Maverick internals on Google or follow a video Maverick modding tutorial and just pay attention to how the uploader puts the blaster back together.
Hope everything gets fixed in the end. JetCell 00:25, July 1, 2011 (UTC)
(*ADDITION made before you talking): I did, however, replace the spring on the thing that releases the air tank by the trigger with a cut-in-half pen spring, after loosing the original like a n00b, but that's the one function that still fully functions. The not shooting is likely the chamber not going in place. It spins just fine when it's open. So it's weird. Ben Again 00:27, July 1, 2011 (UTC)
Your suggestions make sence and are good, but I think my new info might change this. Also I googled some Maverick mod stuffs, the same as got me through the Recon, but no-one put it together. Just "(begins with it open) Ok, open it, do this... and close it (cut to it closed) and now it's better. (ends without fireing it)" So far people aren't as clear with the Maverick. Oh... and while I'm here, what's the deal on stretching springs? I did that to my Longstrike, but it sounds like it's slowly breaking itself with each shot... I also did it to my Recon, but it isn't being scary. Both did successfully get a power boost. Ben Again 00:38, July 1, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, some videos cut out the parts where they actually open and close the blaster. There was one video I followed with my first Maverick that was really clear, but I can't seem to find it at all... I could have sworn it was on YouTube.
Stretching the springs gives extra power for firing darts.
As for the barrel not spinning... I'm really not sure. I'm not a very experienced modder, so I'm really not that great with help with this kinda thing. Try surfing YouTube for full tutorials or double-check to see your internals match an image of the Maverick's internals online. Sorry I can't be of more help. JetCell 01:14, July 1, 2011 (UTC)

proof of the old blue version being more powerful[]

Does anyone have an explanation as to why the old blue Mavericks are more mechanically powerful than the newer ones? Is there any proof? This is the only website I've found that makes this claim.

I beilieve that the Air restrictors are weaker or there is a stronger spring. Cpt. RileyLet's Talk 18:15, August 18, 2011 (UTC)

I have an original Maverick, and although I can confirm it has crazy range for a small blaster, I cannot confirm it is less powerful than the newer models.Frogdude213 18:35, August 18, 2011 (UTC)

I have heard that the Whiteout is better made than the other models, and I also discovered that the old blue Mav wasn't all that good, kept jamming on me.Jeebers76 10:42, July 25, 2012 (UTC)

Reliability Score[]

The article is wrong, I believe.

Almost everyone I've met agrees-Mavericks jam frequently. I've met many a zombie who swear their only kills are from Mavericks that jammed. I have of course had my own Maverick jam on me when I was relying on it, and most people on campus seem to have the same opinion.

The Maverick is a staple of HvZ due to its availability and price, but I believe it jams far too frequently to deserve that high of a reliability rating. 76.177.112.128 06:26, July 25, 2012 (UTC)

So, what would you recommend for a replacement? At this point, the only sidearm I like really is the Barricade with a 9v mod. I don't know much about the newer blasters, although I do like a modded Vulcan for ammo capacity and firing rate as a main blaster.Jeebers76 10:41, July 25, 2012 (UTC)

2005[]

I have reasons to believe that this blaster was not released until at least 2005. Why? I've been researching using old Hasbro webpages, and on Hasbro's own Nerf website, the blaster was not mentioned at all until March 20, 2005 ([1]), when it shows on Hasbro's website, the "35th Anniversary Year! New N-Strike Maverick" in the blue format. Even at the time, the only Nerf product lines according to the site were Pro Shop (which you can still find Mini Sports Packs badged as), Action Blasters and Street Zone. Before this date, the Unity Power System (known as "N-Strike") and the Nite Finder were separate products.

The Maverick was the first to be released new under the N-Strike line, with the Firefly coming later. According to this webpage, the Firefly was released sometime around October 2005 ([2]), after the Maverick's release.

I can tell the Maverick wasn't released in 2004 because, on March 6, 2005, a few weeks earlier, there is no mention whatsoever for the blaster ([3]). I believe I've uncovered something the rest of the Nerf community has mistaken for years.

As for Dart Tag, there is a long gap between March 2005 and the next time the product line was documented, however we can estimate that between July 1st and August 15th, the Dart Tag line was introduced ([4]). The Crossfire/Strikefire (Crossfire was the initial name) was advertised throughout most of early 2006 under the "New for 2006" banner at the top of Nerf's webpage as well. We can also pinpoint the Longshot's release to between August 30th 2006 and October 16th 2006 ([5]).

Well, this is some pretty major news for us here in the community. Finally we have traced official dates, so we can leave the years-old speculation behind. In addition to this, can we finally change the Reactor pages into just one page, since it's pretty much the same blaster for every year it was released (first came out in 2003, not 2001)? Thanks for taking the time to read this. Gage 16:32, December 29, 2012 (UTC)

Interesting, and thanks for researching that. One thing I've noticed is that the copyright date on some of the blasters is often the year BEFORE they were introduced. I'll look at our blue Maverick and see what it says, when I get a chance.

Bluedragon1971 (talk) 17:43, December 29, 2012 (UTC)

Agreed, the copyrights are usually made a year before they are actually produced. I do recall a copyright database ([6]) that shows this sort of method (apparently, the Blast-A-Ball was copyrighted in 1988). Gage 17:51, December 29, 2012 (UTC)

Im not kidding, my Yellow maverick never jammed, you may think that im trying to look badass and lucky, but mine never jammed, I guess im lucky, though, the range its the same and the accuracy its the same, i guess that some mavericks are better than others in different forms.

A Hasbro engineer was officially allowed to release info and pics in 2004

Clear series[]

Were there any differences between the standard Clear Series Maverick and the Game Stop one, besides packaging? --King Starscream (talk) 19:24, May 7, 2013 (UTC)

I've only had one of the later clear ones, but I did not detect any difference.  Might have been different paint, though. I still have a bunch of the black-box ones stored away, like a fool BobOBob (talk) 02:19, June 6, 2014 (UTC)
